Facebook users can claim settlement money

Facebook users can claim part of a $725 million settlement by parent company Meta that the company is obliged to pay after losing multiple lawsuits. The users accused Facebook of privacy violations and improperly sharing data with third-party sources.

Facebook denied wrongdoing but the agreement means the U.S. residents who had accounts from May 24, 2007, up to December 22, 2022, can file a claim. The deadline for submitting a claim is August 25, 2023.

Those who are eligible have to fill in a form. The applicant should provide his name, contact details, and the payment service.

It’s not yet clear how much money each applicant will get. The applicants will get

“Settlement payments will be distributed as soon as possible if the court grants final approval of the settlement and after any appeals are resolved,” the statement says.
